Strategy Games That Let You Breathe
Pure real-time strategy is brutal on a touchscreen. Your fingers cover the units you're trying to command, and one misplaced tap loses a battle. That's why pausable real-time is such an underrated fit for phones.
Iron Tide Command gets this. You can freeze the action, plan your convoy routes, and unfreeze when you're ready. It turns a frantic genre into something thoughtful, which suits how most of us play on mobile in short bursts.
The downside is you have to accept some fiddly zoomed-out controls. I've mistapped a fleet order more than once. But the ability to stop and think makes up for it, especially in the tougher campaign missions.
If you bounce off strategy because it feels too fast, look for the pause button in the settings before you write a game off. It changes everything.
